06.12.23 Upcoming online seminar on (Geo)politics of Data

We wrap the activities for 2023 with an online roundtable seminar on (Geo)politics of Data in collaboration with MA programme in Cultural Studies. The event will be broadcasted live on Cultural Studies RILCA Facebook page on 6th December 2023 at 6-8 pm.

Dr. Akarapat Charoenpanich 

Dr.  Nanthanoot Udomlamun


Dr. Akarapat Charoenpanich holds a BSc in Development Economics from SOAS, an MPhil in Development Studies from Cambridge University, an MSc in Economics from LSE, and a PhD in Information Systems from LSE. He has 5 years of experience working as an economist at Siam Commercial Bank (SCB) and 4 years of experience working at the Bank of Thailand. Currently, Akarapat is an independent writer, an independent scholar, and a business consultant. Research interests of Akarapat include data innovation, the use of ICT for development (ICT4D), and online social media.


Dr.  Nanthanoot Udomlamun is currently a Lecturer in English Literature, Kasetsart University. 

She completed my doctoral study at the Department of English and Comparative Literary Studies at University of Warwick in 2014. She holds a BA in English at Silpakorn University and an MA in English (Literature) at Chulalongkorn University, Thailand. Her research interests cover a wide range of areas related to postcolonial studies, geopolitics, and materialist study of memory.


Areas of our dialogues include:

  • The ontology and nature of data in the early and late digital era

  • The intersections between data and geopolitics

  • Contemporary research on data from the fields of humanities and social sciences
